That's the most common story we hear. The amount of DHT in your blood is normal — your roots just react badly to it, and a blood test can't see that. The short version.

We don't make that claim — no supplement can legally promise that. What we do: real saw palmetto extract at 320 mg, cold-pressed pumpkin seed oil at 1,000 mg, and zinc, selenium and biotin at full strength — the three that are allowed to mention hair.

The short version
How it works
Tap one to see what's in HALO Hair for it.

Two plant oils get in the way, so less DHT sticks to the root: pumpkin seed oil, and saw palmetto (an extract from a berry). Most bottles use the whole dried berry as a powder — much weaker — and don't say how much. We use the real extract, at the amount used in studies, and we print it.
Roots work hard for years and pick up everyday damage — the same kind that ages skin. Vitamin E helps protect cells from it. Almost no hair product has it.
Hair is built from protein. Zinc is the builder — without it, no new hair gets made. Biotin is the builder's helper — it turns the food you eat into the stuff hair is made of. Selenium keeps the builder safe while it works. Run short of any of the three, and hair is the first thing your body stops building. Only three nutrients have a recognized role in hair — and these are the three.
What's inside · per 2 softgels
This is what's in two softgels. Same numbers as on the bottle.
Pressed from pumpkin seeds without heat. Helps the roots cope with DHT.
A berry extract that helps the roots cope with DHT. Real extract, not dried-berry powder.
A strong form of vitamin E. Protects the roots from everyday damage.
The builder. Your body uses zinc to make new hair. Most women don't get enough from food.
The bodyguard. Keeps the root safe while the new hair is being built.
The helper. Turns the food you eat into the stuff hair is made of. A little is all you need — not 10,000.
A little helper for hormones.
A little helper for hair colour.
Iron only helps if you're low — ask your doctor to check. Collagen is nice, but it doesn't do any of the three things above. Too much biotin just ends up in the loo.

Your 12 weeks
A new hair takes about 12 weeks to grow long enough to see. So nothing can show before then — from any bottle. Here's one woman over 12 weeks — slide through.
Results vary. HALO Hair is a dietary supplement, not a medicine — it doesn't treat hair loss. If shedding is sudden or patchy, see your doctor.
What women say
Who's behind HALO
Ellie and Beth are sisters. Both thirty-eight. Same mum, same dad. One of them started losing her hair at thirty-four. The other one didn't.
Ellie did what everyone does. Moved her parting. Biotin. A caffeine shampoo. Rosemary oil. Her doctor ran her blood work, said "normal", and said "some women just thin". She went home and accepted it.
Beth didn't. She'd spent eight years checking supplement labels for a living — the person who makes sure the number on the bottle is the number in the bottle. She looked at Ellie's drawer and said: "None of these were ever going to work. Half of them can't even legally mention hair."
So she made one. For Ellie. Then for Ellie's friends. Then for their friends. That's HALO Hair. Still the two of them — just a bigger kitchen table.

Yes. We had the formula checked by a community pharmacist for everyday use alongside the combined pill. On other medication? Show your pharmacist the back label. It takes them thirty seconds.
We don't make that claim — no supplement can legally promise that. What we do say: the saw palmetto is a real extract at 320 mg, the pumpkin seed oil is 1,000 mg (pressed without heat), and every dose is printed. The nutrients that are allowed to mention hair — zinc, selenium, biotin — are in at full strength.
"Normal" blood work is the most common story we hear. A blood test measures how much DHT you have, and that's usually normal. It can't see how sensitive your roots are, and that's what thins hair. One thing first: ask your doctor for your ferritin number. "In range" can still be low for hair.
Then sort that first — honestly. Ask for ferritin, thyroid and vitamin D. HALO Hair has no iron on purpose: it only helps if you're short of it and can clash with other things. We're for the three routes on this page, not a replacement for a blood test.
Many of our customers do. With PCOS, the hair roots often react badly to hormones like DHT — that's the first of the three things on this page. If you take spironolactone or other prescription medication, check with your pharmacist first.
No. Saw palmetto and pumpkin seed oil are foods, not hormones, and at these doses they're widely used by women. They are not minoxidil — the facial-hair stories you've read are about minoxidil.
That fear comes from minoxidil, which only works while you use it. HALO Hair is a dietary supplement: it feeds the routes while you take it, and nothing "rebounds" when you stop. Most people who like it simply carry on.
Yes — they do different jobs. Minoxidil works on the surface; HALO Hair works from the inside. Plenty of customers use both.
Because the two oils need to be oils. You can't put 1,000 mg of pumpkin seed oil in a gummy — which is why most gummies are just biotin and sugar.
As individual results, not as a promise. That is why the small print under them says so. The only before-and-after that decides this for you is your own: week 0 and week 12, same window, same light. Take the first one today.
Most people notice nothing. Pumpkin seed oil and saw palmetto can occasionally upset a sensitive stomach — take the softgels with food. Stop and speak to a pharmacist if anything feels off.
Please don't take it without checking with your doctor or midwife first. Saw palmetto is not recommended in pregnancy.
Gluten-free, no artificial colors and vegan.
Yes. The formula is the same; the doses are sensible for everyone. We just built the page for the women who asked first.
In a GMP-certified facility, third-party tested, and labeled for the US. Most pumpkin seed oil capsules you find online are built for men's prostates — this one is built for women's hair.
Finish the 12 weeks. If you don't love it, email us within 90 days of your first order and we refund you. No forms, no photos, no quibble.
Two softgels a day, with food. Most people take both with breakfast because that is the meal you never forget. Splitting them, one morning one evening, is also fine. There is no loading phase and no cycling.
No, and no. There is nothing habit-forming in it and nothing that "rebounds" when you stop. That fear comes from minoxidil, which only works while you use it. This is a dietary supplement: it works on the routes while you take it, and if you stop, you simply go back to where your own biology was.
No. That worry comes from finasteride, a prescription drug that works on the same hormone in a completely different way and at a completely different strength. Saw palmetto and pumpkin seed oil are foods, and at these doses they are used daily by a very large number of women.
No. The stories you have read about that are about minoxidil, which is applied to the skin and can travel. This is a softgel with two plant oils in it. If anything, the coarse chin hair is the thing most women want less of, and it is driven by the same hormone this is aimed at.
The two actives are plant oils: cold-pressed pumpkin seed oil and a standardized saw palmetto extract. Non-GMO, no artificial colours, no fillers hidden in a blend. The capsule shell is gelatin, which is why it is not vegetarian yet.
No supplement is, and anyone who says otherwise is selling. Do not take it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are on prescription medication, being treated for a hormone-sensitive condition, or under 18, show your pharmacist the back label first. It takes them thirty seconds and every amount is printed on it.

For men with gout who sleep with a mask

3:12 a.m. The mask is off. The toe is on.
If you've got gout, and you sleep with a mask, there's a reason the two keep showing up together. And it isn't the beer.
This report shows you, in plain English:
Read it start to finish. You can buy me a coffee later.
Dear friend with the mask,
It's 3 a.m. Your big toe is hot, red and about twice its normal size. Even the sheet hurts.
You reach for the mask. It's on the floor. It came off again. Or you never got it on, because it was one of those nights.

Uric acid: 5.0
In the morning your wife asks how you slept. You say fine. She heard you stop breathing. She knows better.
And the part that really gets you? Your last blood work came back good. Uric acid right where your doctor wants it.
You take the gout pill every morning. You wear the mask most nights. You let the beer go years ago, or never drank much to begin with.
You did your part.
And it came anyway.
One man, the morning after, on a gout forum:
“The demon has visited last night. Why is it always at night?”
Fair question. Nobody answers it.
Before we made anything for gout, we read 239,712 public comments from men who have it.
Hundreds of them sleep with a mask. They ask the same thing:
Why the night?
This report answers it, in plain words:

Tart cherry.ZERO sugar
About ten minutes. No lecture about your dinner plate.
Let's start with the clock.
Inside This Report

Made to sitnext to the pill
Five plain answers. They read best in order:
It makes sense once you separate what the night does to your blood from what the pill does to your number.
Between midnight and eight in the morning, an attack is about 2.4 times more likely than in the daytime. It is not in your head. The night really does pick on you.
Every time your breathing stops at night, your cells run short of air. A cell short of air burns its own reserves. The waste left over is uric acid. A night of stops is a morning of extra exhaust.
In small studies, men who wore it four hours or more a night, for six months or more, saw their uric acid come down some. The mask is not a gout treatment. It is for your breathing. The pill still does the number.
HALO does not do the pill's job or the mask's job. It gives you a simple tart-cherry habit, zero sugar, next to the morning pill, for the days between attacks.
← Swipe to explore →

Thing #1
Researchers in Boston checked. They followed 724 people with gout for a year and wrote down the hour of every attack.
Between midnight and eight in the morning, an attack was about two and a half times more likely than in the daytime.
So it's not in your head. The night really does pick on you.
Everybody has a theory about why. Your feet get cold. You dry out. You lie still for hours. Maybe all of that plays a part.
But there's one thing that happens only at night. And only to some men.
Your breathing stops.
Not once. Dozens of times an hour. Thirty. Sixty. For some men, a hundred.
Every doctor draws you the toe. Nobody draws you the night.
So let's draw it. What does a stop in breathing do to your blood?
Thing #2

Your cells run on energy. And they make that energy with the air you breathe.
Now picture a night with the mask off. Your throat closes. Your breathing stops. Then you gasp, and it starts again. Thirty times an hour. Sixty. A hundred.
Every time it stops, your cells run out of air. So they start burning their own reserves to keep going.
And when those reserves get burned up, they don't just disappear. They break down into a waste product. That waste product has a name. Uric acid. Yes, that uric acid.
Think of a car. The engine burns fuel, and exhaust comes out the back. Your cells burn their reserves, and uric acid comes out.
And a hundred stops a night means a lot of exhaust.
Doctors measured it. Men with untreated sleep apnea (that's the name for it when your breathing stops at night) pass more uric acid in the morning than men who breathed all night. After the mask, that morning extra comes down.

Under a microscope: needles.
Now, your blood can only hold so much uric acid. The extra has to go somewhere. It settles in your joints as crystals. Up close they look like needles. Most often they pick the big toe.
Years of extra exhaust. Years of needles. That's where the old crystals came from.
Nobody picks how his body handles uric acid. Nobody picks whether his throat closes at night. Gout runs in families. So does apnea. You got both. That's not a report card.
Thing #3

They followed about 16,000 people with sleep apnea for years, next to 63,000 people without it. Same age. Same sex. Same doctors.
The men with apnea got gout about 40 percent more often.
In the first one to two years after the apnea diagnosis, about 60 percent more.
Blagojevic-Bucknall M et al. Arthritis Rheumatol 2019;71(1):154-160.And here's the part the "just lose weight" crowd always skips. It held for men who were not overweight. Thin men with apnea got more gout too.
Now, a lot of men with the mask carry what I call the stack. Some extra weight. A blood pressure pill. A sugar number they keep an eye on.
The stack and the gout grow in the same soil. Nobody here is blaming you for the soil. Your body handles uric acid a certain way. Your throat closes a certain way at night. Both run in families.
The night just makes it worse. Every night.
Thing #4

Here's what the mask does. It keeps the air moving all night. No stops. No shortage. Less extra exhaust.
In small studies, men who wore the mask four hours or more a night, for six months or more, saw their uric acid come down some.
The mask is not a gout treatment. It's for your breathing and your heart. But it may be doing your gout a small favor on the side.
Now the honest part. The mask does not do the pill's job.
The pill brings the number down. The uric acid in your blood. For most men that pill is allopurinol, "allo" for short. Some take Uloric.
But here's the catch. Your blood test only measures the blood. It can't see the joint. So your number can look perfect while years of crystals are still in your toe.
And when the number comes down, something happens in the joint. The old crystals start to come loose. Little sharp bits break off. Your body goes after every bit like a splinter. That's the heat. That's the swelling. That's 3 a.m.
So an attack after you start the pill often means the pill is working. The old stuff is coming out. The first months on the pill are usually the roughest. Then it settles.
FitzGerald JD et al. Arthritis Care Res 2020;72(6):744-760.They quit the pill, because the worst attack of their life came right after they started it. The bottle goes in the trash. The number climbs back up. The crystals keep building.
And they quit the mask. It's hot. The hose gets in the way. The dog is scared of it. One camping trip without it, one fishing weekend, one week with it in the drawer. Men on the gout forums tell that story the same way every time. Same food. Same drink, or none. The worst attack in years. Only the breathing was different.
Don't quit either one.
Thing #5

Your doctors are on your side. They also have about fifteen minutes each and a waiting room full of people.
So walk in with the question already written down, and ask it first.
✂ Take this to your doctor
For most men, the target is under 6.
And one more: “Should I be on something for the attacks while the pill does its thing?” The guidelines call for 3 to 6 months of that when you start the pill, longer if you need it. Some men only get a month.
Two numbers tell you. Hours a night (four or more is where the studies start). And stops per hour left (your machine counts them every night). If either number is off, say so. Masks can be changed. Pressure can be changed.
Snore, but never been tested? Ask for a sleep study. It's one night. It answers the question.
American College of Rheumatology, 2020 gout guideline. Two different jobs. Neither one does the other's. And a good number with the mask on can still mean a rough night while the old crystals come out.
Job 1: the mask, for the night. Keep the air moving, no stops. Job 2: the pill, for the number. Bring the uric acid in your blood down and keep it there. Job 3: HALO, alongside. The cherry habit without the sugar, next to the morning pill.
When the number comes down, the old crystals in the joint come loose, and your body fights every bit like a splinter. That is one reason doctors often give you something for the attacks for the first 3 to 6 months on the pill.
Every stop in breathing leaves your cells short of air, and a cell short of air burns its reserves and leaves a waste product: uric acid. In small studies, men who wore the mask 4 hours or more a night, for 6 months or more, saw their number come down some. It is not a gout treatment.
For most men that is allopurinol. The target for most is under 6. As the number drops, old crystals come loose, and the first months are usually the roughest. That is the pill working, not failing.
Two capsules with the morning pill. Zero sugar. It is not a uric acid pill, not for your sleep or your breathing, and not a replacement for anything your doctor prescribed.

Between the attacks
The pill, the mask and the two questions run through your doctors. That part comes first.
After that, most men take the pill, strap on the mask, and wait for the next bad night.

The cherry habit,no sugar
So what's yours to do, besides wait? For a lot of men, the answer started at a kitchen table.

Some habits get handed down.
Maybe your grandma swore by them.
First, the honest part: cherry is not going to touch the number. That's the pill's job. In the one placebo test in people with gout (50 people, four weeks), tart cherry didn't move uric acid. Four weeks is short, but that's the honest result.
Stamp LK et al. Rheumatology (Oxford) 2020;59(9):2374-80.So if cherry has a place, it isn't the number. Researchers who study cherries and gout ask a different question: does the deep red in tart cherries have anything to do with the fight in the joint? That research is early, and it hasn't been proven in people.
The number
The uric acid in your blood. Cherry stays out of this one.
The fight in the joint
Early research, not settled.
Cherry juice. Ice packs. The special sock. The mask strapped back on, too late. All after the attack announces itself.
Keep taking the gout pill your doctor gave you, and keep checking the number they want checked. For most men the target is under 6.
Four hours a night is where the studies start. All night is where you want to be. The mask is for your breathing, not a gout treatment, and a quiet toe this morning does not change what the next night does.
HALO turns tart cherry into a measured daily habit, two capsules with the morning pill, instead of a panic purchase once the attack has already started.
What researchers noticed
Researchers at Boston University followed 633 people with gout, online, for a full year.
After each attack, they asked what the person ate, drank and took in the two days before. Then they held that up against the calm stretches in the same person's year.
Same person. Same kitchen. Only the days were different.

One thing on that list was cherries. Mostly fresh ones, about a handful at a time. A smaller number took cherry extract.
Here's the chance of an attack, compared with stretches on neither the pill nor cherries.
Neither the pill nor cherries
The pill alone
The pill plus cherries
*The usual chance on neither is set at 100. About half is 50. About a quarter is 25.
They didn't prove it. They noticed it.
Nobody got a dummy pill. People lived their lives and reported what they did. A pattern like this tells scientists where to look next. It makes no promise for your toe. It wasn't about HALO Gout Formula™ or any capsule, and the gout guideline doesn't recommend cherries either way.
One more thing. In the stretches when people were on a water pill for blood pressure, the link didn't show up clearly. A lot of men with the mask take one. If that's you, it's one more thing to mention to your doctor.
The idea behind this page is not “natural instead of prescription.” It is the opposite: understand what the pill is doing, keep taking it as directed, keep the mask on the whole night, and stop expecting one blood number to tell you everything about the old crystals in a joint, or about what a night of stops does to your blood.
If attacks keep coming while the pill is being started or adjusted, the gout guideline calls for something for the attacks in the first 3 to 6 months. That is a question for your gout doctor, not for a capsule.
Do not quit allopurinol, or leave the mask in the drawer, because an attack came. Keep both, and tell the doctor who prescribed it.
“Is my number where you want it?” for the gout doctor. “Is my mask doing its job: hours a night, and stops per hour left?” for the sleep doctor.
That is the lane HALO is made for: the cherry habit without the sugar, next to the morning pill. Alongside the pill and the mask, never in their place.
The juice problem
You already watch your sugar. Most men with the mask do. The sugar number, the weight, the blood pressure pill. Sugar is the one thing you cut everywhere.
Then you picked up a jug of tart cherry juice. Right on the front: No Sugar Added. Good man.
One morning, coffee in hand, you read the back.
That's about 7 teaspoons. Nobody added it. It comes from the cherries themselves, so the front tells the truth too.

One 8 oz glass of tart cherry juice: about 7 teaspoons of sugar.
And this is a daily habit. Seven glasses a week is about 49 teaspoons of the stuff you said no to everywhere else.

Two capsules.0 g sugar
Nobody's saying the juice brought on your attacks. It's just the one thing you cut everywhere else, coming back in by the glass.
And fresh tart cherries? Eat them if you can find them. They're in stores a few weeks a year, and it takes a good handful a day, sugar and all.
Boston University researchers followed 633 people with gout for a year. Cherry intake in the two days before was linked to fewer attacks, and the lowest chance showed up in the stretches with both cherries and allopurinol.
That does not prove cherries do anything for attacks. It also does not mean tart cherry lowers the number the way the pill does. In the one placebo test, 50 people over four weeks, it did not move uric acid.
HALO's job is narrower on purpose: a measured, zero-sugar tart cherry capsule you take with the morning pill, for the man who counts sugar everywhere else. It does nothing for your sleep, your breathing or your mask.

Meet HALO Gout Formula™

Sugar per serving:ZERO
You already said no to sugar everywhere else. The cherry glass shouldn't be the one exception.
So we kept the cherries and left the 7 teaspoons behind. It's called HALO Gout Formula™: tart cherry extract, in two capsules. Zero sugar.
And it's the same amount every day. No guessing whether this morning's pour was a glass or a splash. No jug running out in the fridge.
What's an "extract"? The tart cherries are dried down into a powder. Two capsules hold a small scoop of that powder, not a glass of juice, so the 30 grams of sugar don't come along. It isn't a glass of juice in a pill, and we don't claim it does what the cherries in any study did.

MY DAILY GOUT + MASK + CHERRY LOG (copy it onto the calendar)
The mask and the gout-care steps come first. Your optional fifth step is the daily zero-sugar cherry capsules.

With yourmorning pill
Here is the routine: two HALO Gout Formula™ capsules with your morning pill, every day, and the mask every night. Simple to remember, easy to record in your log. The evidence for cherries and gout remains limited, so this is an optional cherry habit, not a treatment for attacks.
Easy to write down. A lot harder to explain to anyone who has never had a 3 a.m. attack.
A quiet night is not the signal to leave the mask in the drawer. It is the easiest time to keep the whole routine, mask, pill and all, without gout running the day.
The mornings your feet hit the floor without pain are exactly the days the habit is easiest to keep. Mask at night, pill in the morning, capsules next to it.
An attack can be miserable without proving your pill has failed. Ask about your number before you blame anything, and write down the hours on the mask that night.
The mask for the night. The pill for the number. That one distinction removes a lot of the confusion around “good labs, bad nights.”
Four comments from men who know the mask and the toe firsthand.

Not about gout. About everything else:
“I got a CPAP machine in 2020 and it's amazing what a difference it has made in my life.”— Online comment
Real public comments, word for word. None of these men are customers of ours. They say nothing about HALO Gout Formula™.
And then somebody at the barbecue asks how much beer you drink.
Man to man
Tell anyone you have gout and you get the look. Then you get the tip. Cut the beer. Cut the wings.
Tell anyone you sleep with a mask and you get a different look. The fighter-pilot joke. The Darth Vader joke. You've heard them all.
Here's what the jokers don't know. The man with the mask isn't the weak one in the room. He's the one who got tested. Half the men laughing at him stop breathing at night too. They just don't know it yet.
And the word itself doesn't help. Gout. It sounds like something you did to yourself. Apnea sounds like something you let yourself go for.
Neither one is a report card. Gout runs in families. So does a throat that closes at night. Nobody picked his body.
Does drink matter? Sure. A big night can set off an attack, and you already know it.
But men who quit just about everything still get hit. The old crystals settled in years ago, and the night keeps adding exhaust. Beer or no beer.
And if your wife is reading along, she's the reason you got tested in the first place. She heard it. One woman put the whole deal in one line:
“My spouse has finally stopped snoring and it lowered blood pressure for us both.”
Ma'am, we know. Just don't hide the mask when the grandkids come.
Real public comment, word for word. Not a customer review.
Which leaves a fair question: why would a supplement company write all of this down?
Remember those comments we read? Three things kept showing up.

So we made one simple thing: tart cherry extract, two capsules, zero sugar, to take alongside the pill. And we wrote this report, because the explanation matters as much as the capsule.
What we won't tell you
What men say they want back is plain old normal. A whole night with the mask on and nothing at 3 a.m. Shoes on in the morning. Plans you don't cancel.
We can't promise you normal. We can explain the night, and make the cherry part easier. The rest, you and your doctors work out together.

Straight Talk
No. That's the pill's job, and your blood test is still the scorecard for it.
No. Nothing for your sleep, your breathing or your snoring. That's the mask's job. Keep wearing it.
No. The mask is for your breathing and your heart. Nothing on this page replaces it.
In small studies, men who wore it four hours or more a night, for six months or more, saw their number come down some. It's not a gout treatment. Ask your sleep doctor about your own numbers.
Ask your doctor for a sleep study. It's one night. It answers the question.
No. Never stop or change a prescription on your own. HALO Gout Formula™ sits next to the pill, not in its place.
Show the bottle to your doctor or pharmacist first. Once they're fine with it, take two capsules with your morning pill.
Talk to your doctor before you start, and bring the bottle.
Sugar. About 30 grams in one 8 oz glass, even when the label says no sugar added. Two capsules have zero.
You can, and they taste better than a capsule. But fresh tart cherries show up a few weeks a year, and a real serving is a good handful every day.
We don't claim you'll notice anything in your joint, on your blood test, or in your sleep. What you will notice: no jug, no sugar, two capsules with the morning pill. If it's not for you, you have 90 days to get your money back.
No. You pay once for the bottles you pick. Want more later? Order again.
Tell us within 90 days and you get your money back, subject to the posted guarantee terms. No hard feelings.
The Boston study looked at cherries and cherry extract, not at HALO Gout Formula™ itself. The sleep apnea studies looked at the mask, not at any capsule. Real public comments, word for word, typos and all; none of them are about HALO.
Keep taking the medication your doctor prescribed. Keep wearing the mask your sleep doctor prescribed. Show the bottle to your doctor or pharmacist before you start. Individual experiences vary.

HALO is a dietary supplement and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease. It is not a substitute for prescription gout treatment, for CPAP or any other sleep apnea treatment, or for medical care. It does nothing for sleep, breathing, snoring or oxygen. Do not stop or change prescribed urate-lowering or flare medication, and do not stop using a prescribed mask, without speaking with your clinician. If you take prescription medication, including blood thinners or water pills, have kidney disease, have a first severe hot swollen joint, develop fever or chills, or are uncertain about your symptoms, seek appropriate medical advice. Cherry research discussed on this page is observational and does not prove anything about HALO and gout attacks. The sleep apnea studies discussed looked at CPAP, not at any capsule. Individua
